DIAB Engineering has been providing quality industrial maintenance services to the metals and mining industry since 1970. The company is one of the fastest growing companies in the mining industry and in Western Australia.
The company was founded in Capel, Western Australia and the name 'DIAB' comes from the first letters of the founders’ names – David and Anne Payne; and Ian and Betty Shields. In 1976, DIAB Engineering relocated the primary maintenance and fabrication facility to Geraldton just over 400 km north of Perth, Australia. The current large scale workshop was built in 1998 and in 2009, new fabrication equipment was added to the facility.
By 2012, DIAB Engineering had grown to support multi-million dollar projects in support of the mining industry. Multi-year projects in the construction of port conveyors and port facilities are currently underway with completion dates in 2013.
In 2016, DIAB became a subsidiary of BGC Contracting, Australia’s largest privately owned, mining and construction company. BGC Contracting is a leading player in the provision of diversified services across the resources, energy and infrastructure sectors.
The success of DIAB Engineering is built on its people and its customers. Founder David Payne empowers his employees with the attitude to truly understand the customers needs and to do whatever it takes to service those needs. DIAB Engineering has retained many customers, steadily for over 30 years. All business transactions are based on honesty, commitment self-belief, integrity and loyalty. The same loyalty that has kept mining maintenance customers for decades has also lead to long, rewarding careers for DIAB Engineering's employees.
